we had a community picnic a few weekends ago and maya surprised everyone with her daredevil stunts. she jumped on this trampoline higher than the older kids. she kept yelling "higher, higher!"..... while mommy was on the side about to get sick. take a look st this crazy child. and yes, she is higher than the trees.

these girls are crazy! yesterday, i let them play in the car while i unloaded groceries and they decided to "drive to starbucks". while talking on the pretend cell phone, maya ordered a "tall-skim-no whip mocha and a cholcolate milk for me, please". i don't know where she gets these things from! ;)

Sorry it has taken me so long to post... I have received a ton of harassing emails and phone calls about the blog not being updated- I never realized how frequently people were looking at us! :) Nonetheless, we are all doing well and adjusting into our new fall schedule. Maya started preschool 3 days a week this year and has been doing great. The first day of school, she hopped out of the car before I could even yell "have a great day, honey!". She even received her first homework assignment, which she insisted on perfecting it all weekend. Ava started in her "parents morning out" program at a local church and is slowly adjusting. It was a bit of a rough start- I had to pick her up early the first 2 weeks (the program is only once a week), but last week she had a great day! We are really looking forward to some cooler weather and October fun! Enjoy the pics...........

weekend at the lake

we were invited up to lake gaston (in NC) with some friends for the long weekend. everyone had a GREAT time swimming, boating, and most importantly relaxing with friends. maya told everyone she knows that she was going to spend the weekend with her boyfriend at the lake :) take a look at how adorable these kids are together.......

beach weekend!

we had a great visit with nanny and pop-pop this past weekend at the beach. the girls are truly "in their element" when near any kind of water (see previous post) but the beach or pool brings them to a whole new level. at a mere 3 years old, miss maya johnson is diving into the waves and trying to ride them in. she loves every minute of the waves even though a few hours after we left there were warnings of severe rip tides due to hurricane dean. go figure. at the pool in the afternoons, maya mastered swimming without her floatie and can successfully somersault frontwards and backwards! onlookers could not believe she is only 3. crazy child! it's kind of nice to see some sort of payoff after watching her try to drown herself for the past 3 years... which brings me to ava. miss ava sees what her big sister is doing and since we are very into the copycat game, she thinks she can swim on her own as well. she doesn't want you to hold her hand in the ocean and today learned how to jump into the pool all by herself (with mommy there to catch her, of course). now i have 2 more years of near-drowning incidents! take a look at our pictures.... :)

it's official- we are raising 2 fish. if these girls could stay wet all day long, we would never hear a cry or whine out of them! they both LOVE the water! :)
